Why Join Us?
We welcome applications from people with the skills, ambition, and drive to support our vision for a stronger, thriving city.
“After three years working in Finance at the NHS, I joined Stoke Council in July 2024 as a Finance Business Partner within the Housing Regeneration and Operations team. I was ready for a change but wanted to remain in the public sector to continue enjoying the job satisfaction that comes from supporting our residents.
Since joining, I have gained a wealth of experience through a variety of opportunities. These have included producing a cost service analysis for the commercial portfolio, setting budgets over a five year period, and supporting the preparation of financial accounts at year end, along with the day-to-day management of budgets — a task made easier thanks to the motivated engagement of the budget managers.
There is a genuine commitment among colleagues at Stoke to do the best for the city within the resources available. Innovation and new ideas are welcomed, and there is a real opportunity to make a meaningful difference.”
Georgia Davies – Finance Business Partner – Housing Regeneration and Operations
“Joining Stoke City Council was an easy decision, thanks to its generous pension and annual leave package, a genuinely welcoming and collaborative finance team, and an organisational scale that’s agile enough to see the direct impact of our work yet substantial enough to drive city-wide change. I value the open-door culture that encourages fresh ideas and teamwork, and I appreciate the freedom to innovate, streamline processes, and shape meaningful improvements. Knowing my contributions are both supported and celebrated, and that they directly benefit our community, makes me proud to be part of a council so committed to its people and to Stoke-on-Trent.”
Lazarus Mafuko – Chief Accountant
