We are Hull and East Yorkshire

Message from Mayor Luke Campbell MBE

Welcome to the recruitment site for the Hull and East Yorkshire Combined Authority. We are building an organisation with purpose, ambition and a clear mission: to improve life chances right across our region.

I grew up here. I know what it feels like when people say our area has been forgotten or left behind. That’s why I stood for Mayor. This job isn’t about titles or politics for me. It’s about backing our people and giving Hull and East Yorkshire the chance it has deserved for decades. Devolution finally puts real power and long-term funding in local hands, and now we need the right people to help turn that into results.

Our £400 million devolution agreement is only the beginning. It gives us stability over 30 years and the platform to draw in much larger investment from government, business and national growth programmes. We are quickly becoming a serious regional player – and the people who join us now will help shape decisions, partnerships and outcomes that will define the next generation.

My role is to set the ambition and the pace. The team we bring in will turn that ambition into delivery. We’re creating a culture that values pace, clarity, collaboration and getting things done for local people. This isn’t a traditional public-sector set-up. It’s a new organisation built for delivery, value for money, strategic thinking and practical results.

But no single organisation can achieve this alone. Our success depends on strong partnerships – with councils, businesses, public services and, above all, the people who live and work here. If we build on what we’re already good at and open the door to new opportunities, we can make sure the benefits of growth are felt in every community. By working together, we can create lasting opportunities and real prosperity for this generation and the next.

We’re looking for talented people with the judgement, experience and drive to help us get there. People who want their work to matter and who can turn bold ideas into visible, lasting change for Hull and East Yorkshire.

If you’re ready to take on that challenge and be part of an organisation with purpose and momentum, I’d be very pleased for you to apply for one of our roles.

Who We Are

Hull and East Yorkshire is a fantastic and unappreciated region. It has a rich culture, heritage and sport tradition. Hull UK City of Culture 2017 acted as the catalyst for long term change, leading to large scale capital investment and revitalisation of the historic city’s architectural heritage. It helped raise educational attainment, engaging with young people and communities with a focus on participation and inclusion; and galvanising Hull as Yorkshire’s Maritime City.

The area is home to world class galleries and museums and Arts Council investment in national portfolio organisations is wide ranging, covering both urban and rural communities. Historic England have invested in buildings and spaces, including their Heritage Action Zones bringing new life to historic streets. In sport, the area is home to several top-flight teams, attracting a wide range of demographics and promoting active health.

The East Riding of Yorkshire is just under 1000 square miles of rural beauty with a stunning, rugged coastline, spectacular scenery and a rich maritime and agricultural history. But the chances given to local residents have not always been the best. This is why the 2 local authorities alongside other key individuals and organisations, worked hard to be granted the Devolution Deal.

Our mission is simple:

Good Jobs

A strong local economy depends on good jobs. Secure work that pays fairly and gives people the chance to progress.

Better connected

By improving transport and digital connectivity, we will create a region where it is easy to travel, work and do business.

Fit and healthy

Good health ensures people can go to work, support their families, get involved in their community and enjoy life

Affordable homes

We aim to increase the supply of affordable homes, support first-time buyers and raise standards in the private rented sector.

Our Gameplan

Our Gameplan sets out our strategic priorities for the next 12 months, providing a clear sense of direction for the Mayoral Strategic Authority. It outlines a high-level plan for action and forms the foundation for our work as we develop key workstreams and deliver meaningful outcomes for the people of Hull and East Yorkshire.

Note from the CEO

“Hull and East Yorkshire is a great place. I moved here with my family over 30 years ago and I’m very proud to call it home. But the chances given to local residents have not always been the best. This is why the 2 local authorities alongside other key individuals and organisations, worked hard to be given the Devolution Deal.

The Combined Authority has now been in existence for almost a year. We are now in a position to recruit to our structures on a substantive basis and there are a number of exciting opportunities across the organisation at various levels and in different professions.

Thank you for your interest in our Authority and I look forward to receiving your application.”
