looking to source a Deputy Director of Strategy, and the successful incumbent will be remunerated under NHS agenda for change band 8d, with a salary ranging from £78,192 – £90,387pa
This exciting opportunity has arisen as part of the strategic change and development within the Integrated Care System. The ICS is a new creation that brings together community and mental health trusts with acute trusts, GPs and other primary care services with local authorities and other care providers in Black Country and West Birmingham locality.
Black Country Healthcare provide a range of Mental Health, Learning Disabilities and Children and Young People services. The Trust achieved a ‘good’ CQC rating at the last inspection, and has one of the highest rates of staff satisfaction scores within the system. They provide services for people across the whole Black Country population, with some services on a wider footprint. The Trust is involved in a number of collaborative and partnership arrangements, at both place, system and regional level. It operates as the lead provider for learning disabilities and autism, and it is anticipated that it will take on the role of the Black Country Lead Provider for Mental Health from July 2022.
The trust provides the following core services:
• Specialist community mental health services for children and young people
• Acute wards and psychiatric intensive care units
• Community mental health services for adults of working age
• Forensic/secure wards
• Wards for older people with mental health problems
• Community mental health services for older people
• Mental health crisis services and health-based places of safety
• Community mental health services for people with learning disabilities or autism
• Children, Young People and Families community services
The Trust has a staff complement of more than 3500 whole time equivalent (WTE), and it serves a population of approximately 1.3 million people from a variety of diverse communities across the Black Country. It has an annual income of approx. £200 million

Working across the Trust and Integrated Care System, the successful applicant will utilise an intelligence-led approach to the strategic planning and development of services. As the Trust continues to develop as the ‘Lead Provider’ for MH and LDA, the strategy directorate will hold delineated responsibilities associated with the commissioning and provision of a high quality and coordinated whole pathway of care. You will provide oversight and assurance against the delivery as part of the trusts senior management team, and will develop and implement strategy for the whole MH and LDA pathway in order to meet system wide and local outcomes, including working with place-based teams, in developing and implementing local plans with the strategic commissioner.
